Year it became impossible: the project itself went ahead, and it did use a large, multi-facetted, four poster bed (made out of old wardrobes in the end) which was reminiscent of the concept. but, in 2005, most of the starting points for the design were intended to be impossible - and they remained so.
Sometimes when developing a work it is requisite to dream. For this one we made a conscious decision during the projects development to imagine settings and action that we knew were either physically impossible, or cost prohibitive, or both. We knew that when it came to making the work we would need to reign it in but, for this stage, we chose not to. We made these images into a little book which we gave, as gift, to people who attended.
The finished show, which still involved a bed, went onto several successful seasons. And won prizes; including one for Best Design. Which just goes to show......
